The Department of Computer Science (CS) at Texas Southern University (TSU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position from Fall 2026 in the new Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at TSU. This is a 9-month appointment housed in the new EECS Department, with opportunities for summer teaching and research support. We seek highly motivated candidates with expertise in Computer Engineering (CpE), or closely related fields. While applicants from all relevant areas will be considered, preference will be given to those whose research emphasizes advanced and applied domains that bridge CpE, Electrical Engineering (EE) and CS programs. Candidates should demonstrate strong potential (or a record of achievement) in both research and teaching.

Essential Duties Summary


  • Teach the required full-time teaching load including first-year Freshman CpE, EE and CS courses based on TSU faculty manual.
  • Participation in the new EECS Departments core curriculum planning and program assessment,
  • Leadership and participation in the Department research and professional development, and academic advising and mentoring of both graduate and undergraduate students.
  • participation in community service activities
  • Teaches at the undergraduate and/or the graduate levels.
  • Engages in and promotes active research and teaching related to the advanced and applied areas in CpE, EE and CS.
  • Secure external research grant and publish the research papers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Hiring Range: $87,301.25-$139,683.00



Education


Required:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline (completed by the time of appointment).

Work Experience


Required:

  • Evidence of scholarly productivity and potential for securing external funding.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, research, and service.


Preferred:

  • Advanced topics in CpE, such as System-on-Chip (SoC) Design, Cyber-Physical Systems Security, Edge Computing System, Quantum Computing and Information, Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Embedded Systems, and Chip Designs for AI and Data Analysis, as well as CpE Design Laboratory, and related applied areas.
  • Experience developing new curricula and supporting accreditation processes (ABET)
  • At least two (2) referenced Journal publications in CpE related areas at time of hire.
