Job Summary
This Postdoctoral Research position supports advanced research in artificial intelligence, energyefficient computing, foundational mathematical models, high-performance computing, dimensionality reduction, and machine learning within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The Postdoctoral Fellow conducts independent and collaborative research, publishes findings in peer reviewed conferences and journals, contributes to grant proposal development, and provides technical leadership in cutting-edge computational research areas.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks
- Lead research efforts in AI and machine learning, contributing to and driving ongoing research projects.
- Publish findings in high-impact peer-reviewed scientific conferences and journals.
- Assist in preparing and writing research grant proposals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Mentor students.
Required Education/Experience
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Education/Experience
- A prior postdoctoral research experience is preferred.
Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
- Strong mathematical foundation and programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, Julia, MATLAB, R, and/or C++.
- Expertise in one or more of the following: machine learning, deep learning, HPC, Docker/Singularity containerization.
- Proven track record of research excellence, demonstrated by publications in top-tier conferences and journals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to conduct independent research, data management, analysis, and interpretation.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
